Day 31 – Friend

img040

One of the most powerful and memorable friendships from my childhood – Woody and Andy. This is when Andy is older at the end of Toy Story 3, and he holds Woody in the same pose he did in the first film.

I thought I’d do a more detailed sketch today as it was the last day, and I’m pleased how it turned out! It’s also got me all excited for Toy Story 4…

This was a great film! I drew this using several references as I couldn’t quite fit both arms on the page in the original pose, which is why this is a new pose for Ralph.

Day 29 – Surprise

img038The first thing that came to mind for this theme was a jack-in-the-box, but I wanted to draw something a bit different… I’m guessing this is the version you might find in the Pokémon world!

Day 28 – Burn

img037

I’ve never drawn a dragon before but decided it would be a good idea (perhaps too much Skyrim influence?). Anyway I’m quite pleased with it – it was difficult though as required lots of different patterns and shading!

Day 27 – Creepy

img036.jpg

This right here is the bane of my existence – the deathclaw. I love how the style of it has developed so much between Fallout 3 and 4. I think making it more devil-like has helped to make it scarier, as well as the fact that it also seems to be that much harder to deal with.

This is a style that I really enjoying drawing in – it took ages, but I think it paid off!

Day 26 – Box

img035

Mareep is one of my favourite electric type Pokémon – it’s absolutely adorable, and also pretty good in battle (I used it a fair few times in my Pokémon Crystal days). I figured it would be even cuter if it was in a box, so here it is!

If anyone wants to get me a Christmas present, you now know what I want…

Day 25 – Tired

img034

A sleeping seal for you all! I’ve been lucky enough to witness three sightings of these guys this year at the beach where I live (though the seal in question here actually comes from Sunderland).

Day 24 – One Dozen

img033

So the word ‘dozen’ immediately made me think of eggs…and then I thought how cute it would be to have a dozen chicks in an egg box instead!

I’m not so good at conceptual drawings as I generally use references quite a lot in my drawings, and so this was a quick line art sketch to basically get the point across. I’m happy with how cute the chicks look, but I don’t feel like it’s one of my best.

Day 23 – Snail

img032

I think snails are adorable – I know they eat all my plants and leave snail trails everywhere, but there’s something about them that’s just kind of cute.

This took a lot longer than all my other drawings have been taking this month – the texture of the body was particularly hard to get right, and had to be a lot less impressionistic than my style usually is. I got there in the end though!
